15th February 2022 marked the 80th anniversary of the Fall of Singapore. During this dark period, St Andrew’s Cathedral served as a symbol of hope, uniting men and women from different nations and backgrounds in a time of crisis. The Cathedral's Heritage Committee has commissioned this video to document this important story.

In the days immediately before and after the British surrender, the Cathedral was a place of refuge for the wounded. During the Japanese occupation, Bishop Leonard Wilson and other Christian leaders brought together churches of different denominations with the assistance of Andrew Tokuji Ogawa, an Anglican serving as an officer of the Japanese Imperial Army.

This story points to God’s providence in meeting Singapore’s spiritual and material needs, a message that is still important for us today.

Lest We Forget.
