Sermon Reflections
Be like Moses and Joshua, remain with prayer and worship in Jesus Christ, our Tabernacle
- Which biblical figure do you currently relate to? (Moses, Joshua, Israelite) Please share your thoughts on this identification.
- In increasingly secular societies, where religion is less integral to cultural life, what does creating "Tent of meeting" mean to you? What steps will you take to achieve this? Please share your personal experience.
- The tent required a physical presence and symbolised action. In an era when virtual communities frequently replace face-to-face gatherings, what insights does this passage provide us about the importance of embodied spiritual practices? What actions will you take for your daily and weekly spiritual nourishment? Share more about your pilgrim journey.
Exodus 33:7-11 • Revd Moses Israeli

- In what ways can we identify the thief in our own lives? What are some common “stealing” or “destroying” forces that we may be susceptible to?
- How can we trust in Jesus’ promise of abundant life when facing challenges or setbacks? How can we lean on His strength and grace in times of struggle?
- How can we live out the message of John 10:10 in our relationships with others? How can we bring the abundant life of Christ to those around us?

- What does it mean to “abide” in Christ, and what practical ways can we nurture this vital connection with God?
- How does this abiding relationship impact your daily life and spiritual fruitfulness?
- How have you experienced God’s “pruning” in your life, and in what ways has it led to greater growth or fruitfulness?
According to Jesus, every fruitful branch is pruned by the Father so it may bear even more fruit. Pruning can be uncomfortable, involving the removal of habits, attitudes, or influences that hinder growth. Consider moments when God has used challenges, correction, or His Word to shape you, and discuss how this process has ultimately contributed to your spiritual maturity.

- What is the significance of Jesus riding into the city on a donkey (cf. Matt 21: 4-5)? What does the donkey symbolize?
- How did the disciples and the crowd respond to Jesus when He entered Jerusalem (Luke 19: 36-38)? What did the disciples say that offended the Pharisees (vv. 38-39)? How can we celebrate Jesus as King in our lives and in the Church today?
- Why did Jesus weep over Jerusalem (v. 41)? What does this tell us about His heart for the people?
- What do you think Jesus feel when He looks at Singapore? What is our responsibility for the unsaved around us?

- Name a crisis that you are going through or one that you had experienced in the past. In what way does David’s wilderness experience resonate with your own experience of crisis?
- Lesson 1: Pray. What about David’s prayer in verse 1 do you find instructive?
- Lesson 2: Remember. In verses 2-3, David recalls his experience of encountering God in his glory, power, and steadfast love. Can you recall some occasions in your life when God was unusually real to you in his love and power?

- Lesson 4: Yield. David’s disposition in verses 9-11 is one of yielding to God’s sovereign dealings with his enemies. He simply rejoices in God (v11) and with confidence leaves his vindication to God. What practical steps can we take to help us adopt the same posture as David in times of crisis?

- Amos 8 warns of a spiritual famine due to Israel’s sins—exploiting the vulnerable (vv. 4-6), nominal worship (v. 5a), and distorted beliefs (v. 14). Which of these do you think is most relevant to today’s church, and how can we guard ourselves against it?
