St Andrew's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in Singapore that runs approximately 15 services per week. It is located near City Hall, Downtown Core, within the Central Area in Singapore's central business district. It is the main Cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore and serves as the mother church of 27 parishes.

 

1. Communications Executive
Job Purpose
Work closely with the Head of Communications to:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy Development & Planning

  • Develop strategies to engage target audience with the church’s overall direction
  • Engage with different stakeholder groups to understand ministry/department needs
  • Ideate, propose and develop communications plan for key events aligned to the church’s direction

Content Creation & Execution

  • Ideate, propose and develop fresh, creative content for key ministries and distribute through social media and other relevant channels
  • Conduct research and curate factual, relevant information that supports the content creation process
  • Work closely with AV and media design team to support the content creation process
  • Oversee the pre to post-production to ensure timely completion
  • Assist Head of Communications in other projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum degree in mass communications with 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or Diploma in mass communications with 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of digital content and the social media landscape
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Software
  • Project management skills
  • Resourceful and detail-oriented

 

2. NextGen Ministry Administrator
Job Purpose
The primary role of the Administrator is to perform administrative functions and provide secretariat support to the children ministry, youth ministry and young adult ministry. He/ she will report to the Head of NextGen Ministry and work closely with the staff and volunteers who are involved.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative and logistical duties for the planning and communication of all events and services under the NextGen Ministry
  • Manage social media channels and website details for NextGen Ministry
  • Provide regular updates through various channels to engage the different stakeholders
  • Oversee the distribution and inventory of resources.
  • Ensure the compliance with the Child Protection Policy by all staff and volunteers
  • Maintain the registration records
  • Submit reports and attendance periodically
  • Assist in organizing meetings and schedules

Requirements:

  • Possess a Diploma / Degree in Administration or other relevant fields
  • Have a strong command of English
  • Good at spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work in team and independently
  • Passionate to work with youths

 

3. Youth Ministry Pastoral Staff / Pastor
Job Purpose
The primary role as a Pastoral Staff or Pastor in the Youth Ministry, working under the supervision of the Head of the Next Gen Department, is to provide direction and oversight to the entire ministry of youths from secondary school to university. He/ she will work with a team of committed youth and young adult volunteers in building spiritual maturity among the youths and in integrating the youths into the community life of the Cathedral. 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of youth volunteers in strategize the development and growth of the Youth Ministry.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the youth service, small group curriculum, and special events e.g. Youth Sunday, annual youth camp, youth Alpha, ministry retreat.
  • Provide pastoral care, counselling and spiritual direction to youths
  • Integrate youths into the community life of the Cathedral especially when they transit into adulthood
  • Oversee the recruitment and equipping of youth and young adult volunteers
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to youth and/or parent when necessary.
  • Provide regular updates to all stakeholders e.g. staff, PCC, parents etc.
  • Strengthen the partnership with parents in the discipleship process of each youth.
  • Be an active member in the Next Gen Department and contribute towards the planning of a holistic spiritual development for the children, youths and young adults.

Requirements:

  • Passion to work with youths and to see them growing in their faith journey.
  • Proven ability to relate to youths and parents
  • Possess good interpersonal and leadership skill
  • Able to work on weekends
  • Formal theological training at a minimum of diploma level is preferred

 

4. Children Ministry Pastoral Staff / Pastor
Job Purpose
The primary role as a Pastoral Staff or Pastor in the Children Ministry, working under the supervision of the Head of the Next Gen Department, is to provide direction and oversight to the entire Children Ministry from toddlers to Secondary 2. He/ she will work with a team of committed volunteers to support parents in nurturing the spiritual growth of their children and integrating them into the community life of the Cathedral.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of superintendents to strategize the development and growth of the Children Ministry.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the Children Ministry curriculum, weekly online/ onsite programme on weekends, and special events e.g. Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, Annual Children Camp, Ministry Retreat.
  • Ensure the compliance with the Child Protection Policy by all staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • Provide regular updates to all stakeholders e.g. staff, PCC, parents etc.
  • Strengthen the partnership with parents in nurturing the physical and spiritual growth of each child.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to child and/or parent when necessary.
  • Be an active member in the Next Gen Department and contribute towards the planning of holistic spiritual development for the children, youths and young adults.

5. Worship Ministry Pastoral Staff
Job Purpose
The primary role of a Pastoral Staff in the Worship Ministry is to provide direction and oversight to the Music Teams and the Audio & Visual (AV) Teams at the contemporary services under the supervision of the clergy overseeing the Worship & Creative Arts Ministry Department.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage and develop the music teams and AV teams.
  • Plan the roster for music teams to be involved in contemporary services, special events and prayer meetings.
  • Manage the resource platforms for the music teams and AV teams.
  • Promote fellowship and spiritual discipleship within the ministry.
  • Assume pastoral care of all members serving in the ministry.
  • Recruit new members to serve in the ministry.
  • Support in the planning of special contemporary services.
  • Oversee the maintenance of musical instruments.
  • Plan and steward the worship ministry budget.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Vicar.

Prerequisites

  • Possess experience, training and expertise in church music and is able to direct and arrange as needed.
  • Ability to strategize, organise and communicate ideas well.
  • Ability to engage and connect with people, and to work independently and in teams.
  • Able to keep abreast of worship developments.
  • Able to work on weekends.
  • Formal theological training at a minimum of diploma level is preferred.

 

6. Verger

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Caretaker Duty:

  • Custodian of Church Property and Safety
  • Ensure the gates and facilities are opened and closed on time, and that only authorised personnel and vehicles are left in the compound after closure.
  • Disarming the alarm systems.
  • Keep vigilance for suspicious persons or items, especially after office hours and to report any incidents to the supervisor.
  • Contact point for staff and public on suspicious items or disruptive people, and contacting ambulance or authorities when needed.
     
  • Cleanliness and Orderliness
  • Responsible for keeping the sanctuaries and worship places clean and orderly.
  • Make sure that resources under their care are sufficient and kept in good order.
  • Assist in keeping church equipment and fixtures in good condition, by reporting to the Estate team for follow-up.
     
  • Holy Sacraments
  • Responsible for preparation of the Holy Sacraments for services and other ministry needs.
  • Maintaining the Chalices, Ciborium used for Holy Communion, and other Ornaments and Plates in good condition.

Logistics Support:

  • Prepare rooms and set up for events (seminars, meetings etc) as per requirement.
  • Be on standby to provide logistical support to all ministry needs (eg communion, baptism, confirmation, ordination, weddings)

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in building operations in church buildings will be an added advantage.
  • NITEC and above or relevant studies.
  • Team-oriented and good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to perform 12-hour shifts and standby duties.
