The Surpassing Worth of Christ

20/21 Jun

Opening Question
What is one achievement, accomplishment, or milestone that you are most proud of? Why is it significant to you? Is there something you are still striving to achieve in life?

1. Paul says that he considers everything a loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ (Philippians 3:8).

What does it mean for you to know Christ more deeply in this season of your life? Beyond church attendance and ministry involvement, what practices or experiences have helped you grow in your relationship with Him? What challenges have made this pursuit difficult?

2. Paul speaks of a righteousness that comes through faith in Christ rather than through his own efforts (Philippians 3:9).

When you fail, struggle with sin, or feel that you are not measuring up spiritually, how do you typically respond? Do you find yourself trying harder to earn God’s approval, becoming discouraged, or resting in what Christ has already accomplished for you? Share an experience that has helped you better understand God’s grace.

The Heart of Humility

13/14 Jun
  • When you hear the question, “Are you a humble person?”, what is your immediate inner reaction, and why? How does knowing you are already loved by God shape your responses to criticism, correction, or being overlooked?
  • What do you find most striking about following Jesus’ self-giving love over self-assertion in Philippians 2:5-11? In which area do you most need to surrender control to Heart of Humility?
  • Who in your life has demonstrated quiet humility like Timothy or Epaphroditus, and what lessons can their example teach about faithful Christian service? How might you apply Paul’s instruction to “count others more significant than yourselves” this week, and how can you maintain this attitude meaningfully?

To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain

6/7 Jun
  • What was the happiest moment in your life? Is it due to an external circumstance or Christ? Did it last?
  • Share an experience where you maintained the inner joy in Christ as a fruit of the Spirit despite difficult circumstances.
  • How do you apply this in your life: “To live is Christ, to die is gain”?

The Trinitarian Shape of Christian Service

30/31 May
  • How will seeing your ministry as the ministry of the Son, to the Father, through the Holy Spirit redefine the way that you serve God?
  • In what specific ways is the Triune God calling you to partner Him in His ongoing mission in the church and the world?
