Discipleship & Spiritual Formation

Through the Great Commission, our Lord Jesus Christ made it clear that disciple-making is the core purpose of the church. We are to follow Jesus and help others to do likewise. Here in SAC, we seek to practise “discipleship in community” in all dimensions of church life, including those that do not explicitly bear the label of discipleship.

This commitment is supported, but not defined, by our Christian Education (CE) programme. We do encourage members to learn from CE courses, as this will certainly contribute to our spiritual formation. However, attending courses will not be sufficient for us to grow as disciples. To experience such growth, we must be actively involved in community life, and in the mission and ministry of our church.

Our desire is to see members of the Cathedral community grow as disciples and disciple-makers. This is, without a doubt, God’s purpose for us. To this end, we are currently working towards the implementation of an intentional and systematic discipleship training strategy for our church. It is our prayer that this will contribute significantly to a stronger discipleship culture in SAC.
