In Memory of His Royal Highness

His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99.

The Duke of Edinburgh visited Singapore at least five times between 1959 to 2006, sometimes accompanying the Queen. Prince Philip met many of our legendary figures, from our founding father to our 1st president, the former and our current Prime Ministers.

During a state visit in 1972, Prince Philip accompanied Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, at our Cathedral, and was met by the first Asian Bishop of Singapore, Bishop Joshua Chiu Ban It.

Dedicated to public service, the Duke was involved with hundreds of charitable organizations in the Commonwealth. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards encouraged more than 500,000 young commonwealth citizens to engage with their communities and improve their skills since its launch in the 1960s.

The funeral service was held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and conducted by the Dean of Windsor, with the Archbishop of Canterbury pronouncing the blessing. The Garter Principal King of Arms proclaimed the styles and titles of HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh; during which the Darjah Utama Temasek (Order of Temasek) was amongst the honours featured.

We join fellow members of the Commonwealth in mourning his death and extend heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and all members of the Royal Family.
