In Memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on September 08, 2022, at the age of 96.
The Queen visited Singapore some three times between 1972 and 2006, sometimes accompanied by the late His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The Queen also met many of our legendary figures, from our founding father Mr Lee Kuan Yew to former President Wee Kim Wee, and the present Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
In February 1972, when the Queen visited Singapore for the first time, she attended a special invitation-only service, hosted by our first Asian Bishop of Singapore, Bishop Joshua Chiu Ban It. She was accompanied by Prince Philip, who did the lesson reading, and Princess Anne. Together with the church, they sang the hymn “In Christ, there is no East or West.” At the end of the service, Sunday School children lined up at the Cathedral’s West Porch to greet the Royal Family.
We join fellow members of the United Kingdom, the Realms, the Commonwealth and the world in mourning her death and extend sincere condolences to all members of the Royal Family
