Conflict in church is often not talked about. A cell group member stops coming; people disagree on how a ministry should run; someone’s words land badly, and nobody talks about it.

When people serve together with different views and expectations, friction is expected. We welcome all ministry leaders to join this 2-part workshop to learn practical skills on how to work through conflicts in church.

Topics covered:

  • Emotional regulation
We feel conflict before we think about it. Learn to spot triggers, stay in the moment, and handle someone else’s anger without taking it on or firing back
  • Communication and bias
Learn to hear the concern behind what someone says, and notice how our assumptions change what we hear
  • Interests, Options, Alternatives
Learn to sort out people’s needs, work out options together, and think through what happens if you can’t agree
  • Relationship mapping
Work out who is involved, who decides, and who has influence you may have missed
  • Conversation structure
How to prepare for a hard conversation, open it, work through it, and close it well
