The Letter to the Romans forms the apex of Paul’s thought. Its majestic quality carries the reader above his or her mundane existence to the heights of contemplation (such as God’s grand plan for our world), without losing touch with issues on the ground (such as the problems that still plague humanity). It has also played a formative role in the history of the Christian Church and started many revivals. Studying this letter will, therefore, be a beneficial undertaking for anyone wishing to find out more about God, God’s ways, and God’s solution for the human condition.
Dialogue with the text and find out the answers to some of these real-life struggles & issues:
‘Can I continue in sin that grace may abound? … Can I sin because I am not under the law but under grace?’ (Rom 6:1, 5)
‘I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?’ (Rom 7:22-24)
