Christian Education

Christian Education is the God-centred, Bible-based and Holy Spirit-empowered Teaching-Learning process, through which the church community is guided at every stage of the member’s life journey, to grow in the knowledge and love of God, and be discipled to obey His commandments and walk in His ways.

Our purpose and goal is to present everyone mature in Christ (Col 1:28; Eph 4:13) so that God may be glorified in every aspect of the Christian’s life. It encompasses more than just Bible knowledge per se, as it is the holistic education of the individual which includes aspects of developing a Christian Mind, Christian Spirituality, Christian Living, and Christian Formation.

Baptism and Membership Course

Baptism Courses : For Children / For Youths / Adults

Baptism-Confirmation Course Youths / Adults
Baptism is one of the most significant milestones in a believer’s walk with God. It is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ (cf. Acts 2:38) and is administered in obedience to the Lord’s instruction (Matt 28:19).

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptised and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming Bishop. The Church also prays for you to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, to live in the way of Jesus.

The Cathedral Confirmation-Membership Course is for:

Those seeking confirmation / membership in St Andrew’s Cathedral.
Those baptised and currently attending church services regularly at St Andrew’s Cathedral for at least 6 months.

Note: If you were baptised before 14 years old, you are required to attend the Baptism course before you join the Confirmation-membership course. This will cover the foundations of life as a Christian. After completion of the course, you will not be required to go through the rite of baptism again but may proceed straight to the Confirmation course.

All lessons, Baptism Service, Confirmation Retreat and Confirmation Service will be conducted onsite.

SAC BAPTISM POLICY

Children and Youth (up to the age of 20)
Infant / Child Baptism (0-13 years old) *Applicable only when at least one Parent is a confirmed member of St Andrew’s Cathedral.	Parents will take baptism vows on behalf of the infant/child. The infant/child will be baptised together with the adult baptism group.	Parents will need to download and complete this application form and email it to: membership@cathedral.org.sg Parents, together with the godparents, will be interviewed by a NextGen Ministry Pastor or an assigned staff. Parents will be required to give an undertaking in writing, that their child will go through baptism and confirmation classes if they wish to proceed with confirmation of their child at/after the age of 14 years old. Re-baptism is not required.
Youth Baptism (14–20 years old)	Youth baptism course will be conducted by the NextGen Ministry. The youth will go through water baptism with the adult baptism group.	Youth proceeds to confirmation course after baptism.

Adults (21 and above)
Adult Baptism (21 years & above)	Adult baptism course will be conducted by CE department. Adult proceeds to confirmation course after baptism.

Sponsors (optional; though beneficial to have 1 or 2 – at least one has to be a confirmed member from SAC)

Marriage Preparation Course

The St Andrew’s Cathedral Marriage Preparation Course (MPC) is designed to help couples develop strong foundations for a healthy and lasting marriage.

This two-part course consists of six sessions of teaching, couple-discussion time and small group discussions and at least two mentoring sessions led by marriage mentor couples. Topics covered include:

A Biblical Perspective on Marriage
Communication
Conflict
Commitment
Connection
Adventure

Requirements :
This course is designed for wedding couples-to-be, where at least one party is a confirmed member of, and worships regularly at, St Andrew’s Cathedral (“Cathedral”).

A couple may apply to solemnise their marriage at Cathedral if both parties are baptised Christians, either single or widowed, 21 years of age and above, and the couple have not registered their marriage with the Registry of Marriages. Find out more about Getting Married at the Cathedral.

Mentoring

Nurturing Growth and Development
8, 15 & 29 May (Wednesdays)

Are you ready to help others grow and succeed? Do you feel confident in your ability to build positive mentoring relationships?

In "Mentoring: Nurturing Growth and Development", you’ll learn the basics of effective mentoring and will understand the main goal: to create a trusting relationship where both mentor and mentee take responsibility. By focusing on building trust and working together, you’ll gain practical skills to support and guide others.

Whether you’re experienced or new to mentoring, this course equips you with the tools to make a difference and foster a supportive environment.

Profile of Speaker/Coach
Dr Jeremy Gwee is a Director at the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL) in Asia. He is also a practising Management Consultant, ACTA certified trainer, and ICF-accredited coach and a honorary visiting fellow at the Edward Cadbury Centre for the Public Understanding of Religion at University of Birmingham, UK and serves as an adjunct lecturer at Bakke Graduate University.

The Marriage Course

Learn to strengthen your marriage with video talks and couple conversations.

The Parenting Children Course

What is The Parenting Children Course about?
Developed by Nicky and Sila Lee from Holy Trinity Brompton, London, this course is a series designed to help parents and carers to equip their children for life.

Teaching healthy relationships

Who is it for?
The Parenting Children Course is for parents and carers of 0 to 10-year olds, and parents-to-be. Whether your parenting experience has been a smooth one, or you are struggling in your relationship with your child, you will pick up practical tips and tools from our hosts Nick & Sila to help improve and strengthen your parent-child relationship.

How does it work?
The course consists of eight sessions. They include video talks featuring parenting experts and parents sharing their real-life experience, and small group discussion time for participants to share and learn from one another.

Art of Marriage

2 May – 6 June (6 Thursdays)
7pm - 9.30pm

God created marriage and designed it with a specific purpose and plan. Yet, no marriage is perfect. Regardless of where you are in your marriage, we invite you to embark on a journey of discovery, reflection and connection with God and your spouse.

The sessions will cover topics such as:

God’s purpose for marriage
Sin, isolation and conflict
The gospel’s restorative power
God’s role for husbands and wives
God’s design for sex and intimacy
Leaving a godly legacy

Through dedicated couple time, small group discussions and special projects, we hope to help you strengthen your marriage through God’s power and design.
